I'm more familiar with contemporary secular technocentric/transhumanist sources such as Kurzweil, Tegmark, Kaku, Bostrom, etc. I'll be watching what you posts closely to understand how transhumanistic principle add to the canon of what is Christlike.
This is an interesting question and I appreciate you bringing it up. After spending time researching both the theological and scientific aspects of the topic, I believe that in its contemporary form it is far too new to be addressed faithfully, prudently, and fairly. It is unfortunate that so many church institutions have already drawn their lines, as there are so many factors that can only be addressed with long-term studies.
Until these studies are complete, I can only offer an ethical stance that we should all remember to live virtuously and mind our own business (1 Thess. 4:11-12). As with all movements, there may be actions and perspectives that venture into excess, but it is up the individual and one's cultivation of virtue that these excesses are avoided in pursuit of the mean.
This may not be a satisfactory answer, but it is the best I can offer at this time.

Hey Hunter! The definition of transhumanism we use is "the ethical use of science and technology to transform the human condition".
Of course, there's a long backstory to it as well, one that reaches back prior to the secular use—involving Teilhard de Chardin, Dante, and St. Paul.
